Mika & Tanile

Tanile was scrolling through Facebook and came across Tamika's  page and was intrigued so she decided to send her a  private message. Little did Tanile know, she'd have to wait 3 months for Tamika to respond, and for the both of them it was worth the wait.  Tanile was in San Antonio and Tamika in Houston, but distance didn't matter.  Two weeks later they met in person and have been connected ever since.

Within the first month of knowing each other, they planned their first small getaway back to Tanile's hometown NYC. While there Tamika was able to meet Tanile's family, and explore the city. The inevitable was nearing, a seven month deployment that would test their  new relationship. Tamika invited Tanile back to Houston one last time before leaving, it was what they both needed cementing the foundation of their relationship.

Tamika in Houston and Tanile in Africa, distance nor time stood a chance. Their schedules were extremely different, but they worked it out  enough that they still had time for each other. Long nights of falling asleep on the phone awaiting the other to awake, they made sure every moment counted being in two different time zones. They shared pictures and videos so life wouldn't skip a beat, and as if they were together physically. Returning from Africa in March Tamika and Tanile reignited the flame that started eight months prior.

Getting through countless adversities, from being separated for seven months due to a deployment,  the COVID-19 pandemic struck, leaving them from being apart everyday, to now being together everyday. With countless times together, adjusting to a new way of life together,  Tamika and Tanile still made it count. They celebrated their birthdays and their anniversary through the pandemic, which required them to think of creative ways to hide gifts and thoughts from each other. Cabin fever eventually set it, Tamika insisted Tanile plan a trip to Puerto Rico which ended up being ten days later.

As the days went by, and it was time to leave for Puerto Rico, Tanile had no idea how memorable Tamika was about to make their trip. They finally arrived  in Puerto Rico, grabbed dinner and headed back to their room. As they sat on the balcony discussing their relationship, goals and life, it started to rain, but that didn't deter Tamika from asking Tanile to be her wife.
